Google has conquered the world and is now working on conquering the Moon. Well not exactly but Google along with Lunar X Prize announced that it will be holding a contest where they will give a prize to the first privately funded team that can land a rover on the moon.
Whats the prize? $20 million dollars, but the team has to travel on the surface for 500 meters or more, send back data, photos and video. Another major requirement is to do the task using as little government involvement or help as possible; the dead line is December 31, 2012.
The prize drops to $15 million after that date and if its not completed by 2014 then all bets are off.
"We thought it would be a good fit," said Tiffany Montague, technical program manager at Google and the company's main representative for the Google Lunar X Prize. "Many of us here are interested in space as a hobby or we came from space backgrounds."
Google, which is paying the main prize purse -- $30 million total, including bonus prizes -- hopes the competition will result in education, "interesting new content" and inspiration

Amy Winehouse Almost Dies In Hospital
Amy Winehouse is currently in the hospital with a chest infection....I would tell her to pop two Advils, but that would probably make it worse...
seriously though, our sources are telling us that shes been coughing up blood, has an irregular heartbeat, and has a long history of having an eating disorder.
finding a positive in the negative, the good thing is that the singer is contained in the hospital and free from drugs.
she is set to perform at Nelson Mandela's 90th birthday celebration later this month, and doctors will continue testing to decide whether she will be able to fulfill her performance commitments.
as a fan, I hope she will recover and say no to drugs
